"Willful Ignorance" Original Painting

"Willful Ignorance" was created in 2024 on a 40" x 30" stretched canvas using acrylic paint. This piece depicts a woman holding a book, her eyes deliberately shut as she refuses to accept what is written on the page, while a skeleton peers over her shoulder to read the words. Another in my recurring subject of women and skeletons with books, this work explores not only the concept of escape from reality, but also the act of willfully refusing to accept it.
